UK Planning Research Conference - Roundtable Discussion
On 3rd to 5th September the UK and Ireland Planning Research Conference 2018 comes to the University of Sheffield. The conference offers a chance for international researchers, students, and practitioners to share work and discuss key themes and trends in planning. Delegates will have the opportunity to present papers, participate in roundtable discussions, attend keynote talks, and network with researchers from around the world. The conference will also reflect the city of Sheffield, enabling delegates not only to see the city and its iconic industrial heritage, but also learn about work happening here to plan for better places and communities.
The theme of the conference is ‘Alternative Futures for Planning’, representing our desire to promote debate about how research and practice might envision better ways of planning to meet the complex needs of our cities, regions, and nations. On the second day organisers from Sheffield- Manchester LIP Victoria Habermehl and Beth Perry and Sweden, Nazem Tahvilzadeh and Stig Montin, are coordinating a roundtable at the to discuss the challenges and best practices of participatory planning, this is building on the work of the Participatory cities project. The round table will draw together experts on participation from Sweden, as well as community planning group- Just Space, URBED and planning professionals.
